At Stelvio National Park

Stelvio National Park is one of the largest natural preserves in Europe and extends over 134,620 ha and a total of four Italian provinces: Bolzano/Bozen, Trento, Brescia and Sondrio. At the heart of the Stelvio National Park lies Stelvio Pass; with 2,757 metres it is not only the highest mountain pass in Italy but also one of the highest in Europe, presenting an important link between Lombardy (Bormio) and South Tyrol (Prato/Prad at Stelvio Pass). The pass is only open during the summer months, from June until October.

Stelvio National Park was founded in 1935 and comprises the entire Ortler-Cevedale-group as well as the idyllic mountain villages surrounding Stelvio Pass. One of these villages is your holiday resort Stelvio/Stilfs. Stelvio National Park offers a great diversity of animals and plants and the fantastic opportunity to explore nature up-close. Throughout the park you find a variety of houses with exhibitions about various themes of interest to the national park. During your visit to the park, please treat the environment with respect to help preserve the great diversity of Stelvio National Park.
